Today marks my first, well I guess second, outfit post. I love reading other blogs like What I Wore, Sea of Shoes, The Sartorialist, and prowling flickr's Wardrobe Remix, Lookbook.nu, and Weardrobe to get inspiration and I definitely take pride in my outfits - heck, clothes and stuff are my day job!
I thought I would share more of that with you, since I believe that outward appearance definitely has an effect on your mood and confidence - and even your everyday happiness! It can be very difficult shopping for clothes when you are not the ideal size/weight you have in your mind, because nothing seems to fit properly, and a lot of times it doesn't. Clothes can be a major source of frustration and even shame.
In the past, at the size I am now, I did not feel comfortable in my clothes in general - and I would often revert to baggy pants and a hoodie - even though I longed for the fashionable looks of my "skinny days."
Regardless of your size, it is important to own and wear flattering, comfortable clothes that fit. And if they are fashionable, all the better, who cares about the number on the tag!
In attempt to be more fashionable, I bought a few things that really opened up my wardrobe (high-waisted skirts, new jeans that actually fit me, a few more dresses to add to the collection), and I thought I would share the outcomes with you!
Without further adieu:
The picture quality could definitely be better - obviously my photographer is inexperienced... and sorry for the sour puss face - I'm not really sure what I want to do face wise with these pics yet. I looked like a huge goof-ball in the one where I was smiling.
Anyway, I liked this outfit a lot because I did something different. The skirt is a dress from Forever 21 that is too short for work, that I pulled down a bit, tucked under and belted. I'm also wearing a favorite shirt that I almost never wear, and I think it works really nicely. This outfit made me feel happy and creative! As a note about the shoes, I ended up wearing different flats most of the day but changed into these heels for dinner and drinks. Heels always make you feel more sophisticated.
